ESL Classes: Kill Devil Hills
(free for adults)

Ongoing ESL classes run from September through May at Son Rise Church of Christ (second floor) in Kill Devil Hills from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes are FREE and open to any adult wishing to learn English as a Second Language. Students of all levels are invited to attend. The church is located at 1311 Goldie Street, which is off of Pine Grove Trail (street just before Sun Realty). New students can call (252) 216-7773, email us or drop in to register for the class. If you know anyone wishing to learn English or improve their skills, please let them know about this class.

Can You Help Us With Publicity?
(volunteer position)

If you are proficient with web design and production, we are looking for a volunteer to help keep our website updated. You'll be required to update information, photos, events, etc. on an as needed basis.

We are also looking for someone to help us with publicity. This would include writing press releases for newspapers, keeping media contacts and local organizations updated about our events and programs, etc.

Board of Directors and
Advisory Council Members
(volunteer positions)

We are continually looking for people interested in serving on the Dare Literacy Council board of directors. Board members attend approximately seven monthly meetings per year and are responsible for overseeing the various literacy programs, determining policy, assisting with fundraising and advocating for literacy. Members are asked to serve in the capacity that most interests them (e.g., training, publicity, fundraising, finance) and no education-related background is necessary to serve on the board.

Advisory members are those who bring a special expertise to the Council, in areas such as law, finance, education, publicity, events, administration, etc.
